Jon Atherton is, by definition, a true Hybrid back
(H Back). Having a single player that has a starting position, but
also has the ability to be competitive in a number of other positions is
a luxury all coaches should have. Jon has played (competitively) TE, FB,
CENTER, and WR, without hesitation. Always brain storming new concepts
and willing to help in anyway he can, Jon deserves this recognition. His
commitment and dedication to the Saint John Wanderers is nearly
unchallenged. |
Bobby Mac has been a Gladiator since 2006 and took over
as team President in 2013. He epitomizes what it be a football player.
Whether it was playing in the 2005 high school championship game
with a cracked fibula and having two interceptions OR the playing
through a badly sprained ankle in the 2012 AFL championship game and
making the game saving interception with 30 seconds to go; he has always
found a way to contribute above and beyond what is expected. In 2014 the
Gladiators went through four quarterbacks before they finally handed the
ball to Bobby Mac. Once again, when the team needed him he stepped up
and did what was best for the team without any regard for himself. |
Nick McEachern has been with the Moncton Mustangs the
last 3 seasons. He has played fullback for us this season and has done a
tremendous job of blocking for our tailbacks and QB even though he is
not the biggest player on the team. Nick is also an excellent special
teams player. He has always been at practice throughout his 3 seasons
even when he is injured and cannot play. He is a student of the game and
helps the coaches out whenever he notices something we can improve
on or change up. He may not always get recognized for the plays he makes
but he is always ready to make or take a hit for the team. |
David Henderson is a Half-Back, Special Teamer and Player
Coach for the Privateers. On gameday Dave organizes and runs the special
teams for the Privateers, making sure every position is filled on a team
that often plays short handed. Dave has often drops his play sheets and
grabs his helmet to jump into any position on special teams when a
starter is hurt and no-one is able to fill in. Off the field, Dave and
his wife Colleen organize the Privateers' gate, stick crews and team
travel expenses and Dave organizes and coaches the Privateers' Flag
program and is a position coach for the Bantam and Varsity teams. |
